Bifold Shower Door - An Excellent Way to Create a King-Size Shower Room

The bifold shower door is an excellent way of creating a king-size shower room. When you get to shower in the bathroom in a small sized apartment, the challenge is that you have to be very careful with the splashing of water lest you spill all over the house. The bifold shower door allow for making of two L-shaped doors which can be joined to form a cubicle. Each side of the cubicle could be fitted with a roller to allow it to open from any end.

bifold doors

Most manufactures will not limit you to a specific size of the door. They are often adjustable to meet your need and fit the room. To further improve this ability to fit the room size and your need, some of the bifold shower door have sliding shower doors which reduces the space that would otherwise have been required for closing and opening of the door. This is important in most apartments which are generally smaller.

BIFOLD DOORS

The bifold shower door is supported by the hinges or the corners are made to have bypass which allows for the easy sliding. The sliding can be made easier by using trackless frames.

In addition to the sliding doors as a mechanism to increase space, the use of frameless glass shower door cabins are on the increase. These doors are often joined through the use of the hooks and therefore make an even more portable cabin. The areas that are folding would in this case have a neo angle or a bypass. The resulting coram cabin is an excellent thing for those who want to make temporary bathrooms say in camps or in summer houses.

Various materials can either be used singularly or as a combination to achieve this custom shower doors. The goal here is to have an appealing space which also allows for adequate natural light. The aqualux feeling that is generated by the color choice can be both fascinating and unique. The choice of either white or silver or sky blue is very common. This however does not limit in the choice of the type of the color that you should choose.

The doors of the bifold shower door can be made secure by use of special seal. The custom shower rooms may include specialized sealing mechanism. Once the door fold inside, then it can have a hinge in the middle that allows the door to fold back. The lock can then be placed either on the lower or upper corner. The trackless areas where the door rail would run would then have a neo angle that allows for a handle.

This system of making the door prevents any water spillage. It can be further made secure through the use of the use of special seals. These can be water proof adhesives which are placed on lower part of the cabin or on the joints. This will result in a cubicle that allows you to enjoy your shower without having to worry about water spillage in the rest of the room.

the rough openings right. Items that determine what the
height of your opening will be are floor finishes and the
use of underlayment. Door widths will stay constant with the
size of a standard door.

In new construction most doors are hung after the floors are
installed. This allows flooring contractors (tile, hardwood,
vinyl, laminate) to lay their flooring products without
making tricky cuts around door jambs. It also makes for a
neat and clean door installation. Exceptions to this are
carpeted floors. Doors are hung before the carpeting is
laid. When doors are hung in carpeted areas, its a good idea
to shim them up 1/2", putting a shim under each jamb leg.
This eliminates the need to cut the doors down after the
carpet is installed.

LOWES BIFOLD DOORS

For a 6' 8" high door (80 inches) I like to frame my rough
opening height at 82 3/4". This allows room for all the
situations mentioned above. If your header material is a
double 2x12, holding it to the top plate will give you that
height.

Rough openings for door widths are pretty much standard. The
rough opening width is 2 inches wider than the door itself.
this allows room for the door jambs which are usually 3/4"
thick. This gives you approximately 1/2" of play and shim
room when installing a prehung door. For a 36" door (3' 0")
the rough opening width would be 38". Here are the most
common door sizes and their rough openings.

Door Size Rough Opening Size

2' 0" x 6'8" -26" x 82 3/4"

2' 2" x 6'8" -28" x 82 3/4"

2' 4" x 6'8" -30" x 82 3/4"

2' 6" x 6'8" -32" x 82 3/4"

2' 8" x 6'8" -34" x 82 3/4"

2' 10"x 6'8" -36" x 82 3/4"

3' 0" x 6'8" -38" x 82 3/4"

To figure the rough opening for double doors or french
doors, take the door size times 2 and add 2". The most
common sizes for exterior doors are the 2'8" and the 3'0"
doors. The 2'8" is usually used for the back door and the
access door from the garage. That size door for exterior use
is being used less these days because of the size of
appliances and furniture. Exterior doors with sidelights and
sliding patio doors rough openings vary from manufacturer to
manufacturer. These should be verified and gotten from the
supplier.

Getting the rough openings right the first time keeps the
sawzall in its carrying case and having to change the
opening after the walls are drywalled and painted.

When to Use Fiberglass Entry Doors With Sidelights

Some homes must endure tougher locations and more movement than others. When a house is without fair weather, or has more people moving around, in and out, the front door feels the brunt of these harsh conditions. One popular solution to these problems are getting fiberglass entry doors with sidelights. The use of fiberglass as surface material for doors is borne out of its resistance to warping, splitting and rotting compared to wood, especially under those severe conditions. It is energy-efficient as it insulates three to five times better and permits natural light into homes. It is also supposed to be eight times stronger than vinyl and twice as strong as steel. The addition of sidelights is not only to fortify entry and patio doors with extra support and insulation but also beautify doors further just like accouterments of a fireplace or wall.

Sidelights are narrow panes or windows added to the side of doors or larger windows. A door may have a single sidelight on one side or bifold sidelights flanking either side. This is often determined by the width of the entryway. Houses where the entryways are wider than general door sizes could use fiberglass entry doors with sidelights, one or two depending on what can fit in the entryway. A wood grain surface on these doors, which mirrors older solid wood doors, finished with various wood textures, is one of the most attractive qualities to buyers. Another is the make using fiberglass and composite material, which provides resistance to air and moisture penetration, insect damage and rotting, and stainless steel in various parts, which provides resistance to corrosion.

LOWES BIFOLD DOORS

Installation should be considered. For one, the door components do not disassemble easily. The actual door is likely attached to the frames of the sidelights, or a joiner accommodates the door unit and the sidelights. The threshold of the door is likely one single unit under the door and the sidelights. Replacing either just the door or the sidelights, or the frame from the threshold, may cause real damage. When priming, pre-finishing or pre-glazing comes standard with the product, it adds magnetic appeal to remodelers and homeowners. Glazing ensures that glass is protected and easy to clean. Priming gets the surface of the door ready for painting, pre-finished with a mahogany, oak or cherrywood staining. In this electronic age, it also still matters that the door has increased security, such as protection against forced entry in the jamb, lockset & deadbolt areas.

Quality should never be neglected, especially that fiberglass entry doors with sidelights constitute an entire door system with various components. Established door makers add enticement with tighter quality control and easier product access. Masonite operates one of the biggest research & development facilities, and Milgard makes most parts internally through its vertically integrated production. Benchmark by Therma-Tru is distributed exclusively at Lowe's stores, and Feather River, at Home Depot stores. SureFit provides full-service installation with sales support. An extensive store network providing fast, convenient access to products, and the bonus of doubling as a professional installation service, certainly makes for additional enticement.

Replacement Contemporary Closet Door Ideas

Contemporary closet doors are more popular than ever in modern homes in America. Options include glass, Shoji, French, mirrored, bifold and plexiglass as well as accordion louvered and linen panels. The materials used in construction of these doors will make a difference in the price based on the retailers you shop at. For a small investment, homeowners are able to add up to ,500 in equity to their home by the replacement of these doors with more modern kinds.

interior glass bifold doors

For closets outside of the bedroom in interior hallways, accordion louvered doors are popular with interior designers. These are not considered contemporary by many, but when paired with linen or glass panels on the bottom of the door for ideas, the doorways become more updated. Floor to ceiling doors can be used in hallways to create the illusion of no doorway, while mirrored or shoji doors can be used to bring attention to these areas. Wardrobes would benefit from French or Shoji doors as a way of adding to the appeal of a bedroom closet area. Using ideas such as floor to ceiling doors in the bedroom or bathroom areas will give the entire decor of a room a more uniform appearance.

BIFOLD DOORS

When using bifold or accordion louvered doors, it is important to only use them in closets that are situated near a corner of the room. These do not take up much room when the doors are opened, and this is the appeal of these types near corners where regular doors would hit walls and cause damage. Contemporary wardrobe areas would be greatly admired with plexiglass doors or shoji screens for changing areas. Replacement doors can be found in glass with many options such as smoked, mirrored, etched and frosted glass with or without beveled edges.

Homeowners are strained to decide on the types of doors to use in their homes, when there are so many viable choices for each room. If you have a closed up room that does not see many visitors or use, you can use simple replacement doors with louvered slats. For teenager's rooms it would be best to use full mirrored doors. This negates the use of another mirror hanging on walls, and saves space as most of them are sliding and allow the larger closets to appear roomier from the outside. For more adult tastes, Shoji doors can be used to stay with an Eastern motif. Along with a few throw pillows and small accents like a tea set and fans or scrolls, your room has been changed from bland to beautiful with a few simple additions. Remember that even though you are paying for the closet doors now, the equity in your home will go up upon the next appraisal and when the home is paid off completely, the equity is yours. If you already own the home, the equity is a nice selling point if you are interested in such.

Top Reasons to Buy Fiberglass Entry Doors With Sidelights

The front door is the first most visible part of your home. Just like eyes are windows to the soul, the front door is the first glimpse into your house's personality. For this reason, there is immense value in bringing it to its most beautiful and useful form, and one of the ways to do this is with sidelights. Door sidelights are panes of glass, typically narrower than the actual door, set along one or both sides of the door. Fiberglass entry doors with sidelights are some of the elements that architects and homeowners use to enhance houses. Sidelights add charm as well as strength to entrance and patio doors like a fireplace does to a hearth. The choice of fiberglass as surface material for doors is because it does not split, bow or rot, which wood does prematurely due to climate fluctuation and continual use. It is also believed to be eight times stronger than vinyl and twice as strong as steel.

When the entryway of a house is wider than any of the common door sizes, the solution are external sidelights. Some entryways can accommodate one sidelight on just one side but other entryways are very wide and need bifold sidelights to flank the door. Popular models of fiberglass entry doors with sidelights are ones finished with a wood grain surface that resembles solid hardwood doors, in a variety of wood textures. They will have been made using fiberglass and composite material that resist air and water intrusion plus insect damage, with several parts made using corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Fiberglass is also energy-efficient. It does not conduct heat, insulates up to five times more than wood, and permits natural light inside homes. Door system features like protection against forced entry in the jamb, lockset & deadbolt areas are further enticing.

LOWES BIFOLD DOORS

It adds magnetic appeal to the product when priming, pre-finishing or pre-glazing is standard. It takes a load off buyers when the surface of the door is primed for painting on, normally pre-finished with a staining like mahogany, oak or cherrywood. Glass is more fortified and easier to clean when pre-glazed. It should be emphasized that the door and the frames of the sidelights are usually connected, or a frame has a joiner to contain the door and sidelight units. In fact, the threshold underneath the door and sidelights is usually a single continuous unit. These components do not disconnect easily. Disconnecting the frame from the threshold, or replacing just the door and not the sidelights, is knotty and will probably cause some real damage.

In this electronic age, fiberglass entry doors with sidelights are staple products of leading door manufacturers, thus backed by their established expertise and capabilities. Masonite has one of the largest research & development centers, for example, and Milgard runs a vertically integrated production in which most parts of a door are built internally. Lowe's stores exclusively carry Benchmark doors by Therma-Tru, and Home Depot stores do the same for Feather River doors. Full-service installation and sales support are the promise marketed with SureFit doors.

Selecting Bifold Closet Doors For Your Home

My husband and I recently purchased a very run down, Victorian style house. It's previous owners had altered the internal design of the house, several times over. The ceilings were brought down to a height of 8 feet as opposed to 12 feet and much of the hardwood in the floors and trim was badly beaten. It was clear that we had a lot of work to do and we were going to need to consider the use of Bifold closet doors for some of the rooms.

bifold doors with glass

I do like a Victorian design, but I like to brighten things up a bit in these kinds of homes. I want to maintain the architectural integrity, but I also want for it to feel livable and less weighty, if you know what I mean. I thought that Bifold closet doors would serve this purpose so long as we found someone to make them to individual specifications.I was able to find just the company and we have collaborated over the years on some interesting designs.

BIFOLD DOORS

Given that all of the molding and floors were of hardwood, we kept to this design, and had our doors made of the same wood. I wanted to break things up a bit so I had the company make the doors with stained glass panels. They turned out beautifully and the strength of the wood made it all possible. We simply stayed within the weight specifications per section of stained glass. We now have some of the most gorgeous Bifold closet doors that anyone has seen.

Working on the renovations to this house has been a fairly humbling experience for our family. There is so much intrinsic beauty in the original architecture. We want to enhance it, without taking away from it. This can be very difficult and we have had several false starts along the way. Fortunately, none of these were related to the individually, designed Bifold closet doors we used in the house.

The company we chose to assist us in our long-term project, was delightful, to say the least. It's nice to work with people who appreciate creative design and it's applications. I believe that the old Victorian house is now a welcoming home!

Variety in Mirrored Bifold Closet Doors For the Home

Everyone knows that mirrors make a room look larger. Mirrored bifold closet doors not only make your room look larger but can also give it a contemporary look. The doors come both framed and frameless and can be framed in aluminum or wood such as pine and mahogany. They bring a certain modern charm to any room and because they are mirrored they brighten the room as well. Mirrored closet doors are intended for interior use only and should not be used in a garage or shed due to the risk of breakage.

bifold doors closet

Other types of closet doors include louvered and accordion doors. Accordion doors are tiny long planks of wood that are attached one to another. These are generally made of pine and mahogany and are used primarily for room dividers. Louvered bifold doors are the more common bifold kind and are generally cheaper than other types of doors. Materials for bifold doors will vary from one manufacturer as well. Some may have panes of glass or frosted glass instead of planks of wood. These are perfect for pantries and entry way closets.

BIFOLD DOORS

Most bifold closet doors are adjustable so you get the perfect fit for your doorway. This is why it is not as important to have precise dimensions for pre-made doors. Custom ones are different; in order to make the builder look their best, they want them to fit in an exact area therefore they ensure the dimensions are exact. Locks are also available for mirrored bifold doors as well as other forms of bifold doors. These locks are metal slides that slide over the tops of the panels at the hinge to prevent children from opening doors they shouldn't. Custom doors can have regular locks built right in them for convenience.

Most interior bifold doors have a specific style like a modern or contemporary style but mirrored bifold closet doors pretty much covers both of these styles in one design. They are sleek with few details like a contemporary style but are also modern with their frameless designs. If you were to look up both styles, you would find mirrored doors even though they may be slightly different in their designs. The two styles are also similar in prices with the only differences being in the manufacturers.

Local retailers can help you choose the mirrored or bifold closet doors that are right for your home. You simply need to know a few specifics such as where they will be used and your budget as well as the dimensions of the doorway they will cover. Keep in mind that they are meant for interior use and can be adjustable so the dimensions do not have to be precise. Prices will vary depending on your specification, preferences, materials and manufacturers. Some retailers offer custom built bifold closet doors that are usually more expensive than store bought or pre-made doors so take that into consideration when shopping for your doors.

Bifold Closet Doors

Bifold closet doors are a space saver and allow you access your entire closet. However there are disadvantages with certain types of closet doors. Sliding types will only allow you to open one side at a time whilst closets with hinged doors face problems when any items are placed near and around the outside of the door. By far the most convenient door design is the bifold closet door.

bifold doors lowes

If your room just has a small closet, then you would be better to opt for just one bifold closet door, but if it is wide enough, then you could accommodate two doors on opposite sides. Whilst two are not necessary they are definitely more pleasing to the eye and will add a bit of a modern architectural effect to your home. Together with a good paint scheme, it will make the closets blend in with the rest of the wall to make the room feel more unified.

BIFOLD DOORS

Whether you have a reach-in closet or a large walk-in area closet, a bifold door is certainly the ideal choice. If you do decide to have this type installed on your closets then it is recommended to have a professional install it for you. Correct installation will ensure optimum performance of the door. Afterwards, the only thing that you should have to do to make sure the door keeps working is to put a little grease or oil in the track to prevent any problems with opening and closing.

Another thing to consider when choosing doors for your closet is that the type you opt for will effect the space of your room. If you want to conserve space, then ideally you should install bifold closet doors. Not only are they visually pleasing but they drastically cut down on the space that a hinged one takes up in a room.

When faced with the option of which doors to purchase, bifold closet doors are without a doubt the popular choice over sliding and hinged types because they provide the ability to access the entire closet at one time.

Sliding Closet Doors Verses Bi Fold Closet Doors

Choosing the right door for your closet will depend on the type of closet you have. In many cases you may find that you do not want a closet door at all. There are lots of closet ideas that will help you choose the right door. In terms of built in closets located in a home or business you have two basic choices. These include a walk-in or a reach in design. If you have a standard walk in closet you have a lot more door options compared to the reach in closet.

bifold doors glass

Walk in closets by their design require more space and are in general U shaped giving you more door options. In some cases walk in closet may not even have a door as part of their design. A standard interior door may be used as a walk in door. Classic mirror closet doors are frequently used to increase the functionality of the closet door.

BIFOLD DOORS

Reach in closets are probably the most common used storage design in home construction. More or less obviously the "reach in" design got its name from the fact that one stands outside of the closet and reaches in to insert or remove items without physically entering. In most cases the reach in design is used where space is concern. In most cases they are 3 to 10 feet wide and average 30 inches in dept. Considered by many builders and architects to be a very efficient was to maximize storage space.

Selecting the best door depends on the size of the closet. Long closets are best suited to sliding closet doors as opposed to bi-fold closet doors. Wide sliding door allow you to have access to about ½ the length of the closet and give good access the ends of the closet. In addition if you are interested in mirror closet doors the sliding design will facilitate their installation. In addition large mirror surfaces will give the room a more open appearance.

bi-fold closet doors allow you to have better access to the center of your closet. They are in general lighter and frequently design to will washboard slat openings that allow air exchange in and out of the storage space. One disadvantage of the bi-fold door is that when it is open the hinged portion extends out into the room. This can in some circumstances interfere with the placement of furniture or beds.

Both designs require the installation of top and bottom tracks to hold and guide the doors as they move. The type of bottom track installed is important if you are installing carpet within your closet. Some designs have only a center bottom guide track that is relatively short thereby allowing you to use your vacuum cleaner within the storage space.
In general we favor sliding closet doors as opposed to bi-fold closet doors. They allow more access to the storage area and allow mirrors to be installed on the doors. bi-fold door operation requires space for the hinged portion of the door to project out in the room when opened.
